Music Director Ray Chew returned to score this year’s Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks. The 26min. electrifying show paid tribute to Motown and the late Tina Turner (with the help of Turner’s long time saxophonist, Deric Dyer, Grammy Award-winning singer Lisa Fischer and Incognito’s Kelli Sae. Jazmine Sullivan‘s rendition of “Lift Every Voice” accompanied by Chew’s arrangement still has the internet abuzz!
“It was such a privilege to pay homage to my friend and mentor Paul Riser in the Fireworks Score. He was the arranger and co- leader of The Funk Brothers and responsible for a lot of the great music that we all enjoy from Motown. I also want to thank Will Coss, Wesley Whatley and the whole Macy’s team for bringing me back to produce the score for this event once again. Being able to tribute our Queen, Tina Turner, was an honor I will forever cherish.” – Ray
